Layfayette Arts Space

Lafayette Arts Space

Competition Entry, 2018

The LAS was a competition entry to provide an arts space and residential units for a barren wasteland site in Greenwich Village, Manhattan.

The project examined urban sprawl and looked to seek a modular solution to underutilised urban situations. The project looked to provide housing as an idea on co-living and to test how housing could be built around a social entity, such as a gig space, bar or arts space.

The apartments are designed as a modular system where one piece of furniture is constructed and slotted into the volumes to provide spaces with volume and light, but to utilise space by grouping storage and service spaces.
